Surge protection systems for computer centres

Modern systems from OBO protect the computer infrastructure against surge voltages

When maintaining the functionality of data centres, it is not only external lightning protection that plays a central role. Surge voltages occur with increasing frequency and can cause considerable damage. Through a wide range of surge protection systems, made to meet the state of the art, OBO can ensure a safe electrical infrastructure in computer centres. These include:

V20 surge arresters: With a total arresting capacity of 60 kA (20/40 per pole), the type 2 V20 arrester series for surge protection according to VDE 0100-443 (IEC 60364-4-44) is also suitable for use in systems in increased safety requirements in accordance with DIN VDE 0100-534. The V20 arresters offer system protection of up to 160 A without a separate backup fuse.

PDP-OS plug-in data cable protection: MSR technology enables the automated control and remote monitoring of systems, sensors and actuators. The universal data cable protection devices of the PDP series mean that the electronics are protected effectively against damage from surge voltages. In addition, the PDP-OS models all have optical signalling and remote signalling, meaning that it is clear at a glance whether the connected system is still protected.
